Not only did I antagonize and enrage my friends, but I went to the mall on February 28, and bought stuff while I was there. Yes, I did, I admit it. I confessed immediately to Joe Roch and Sassy Redhead. I haven’t decided what all I’m going to return yet, but I willfully shopped and spent like some crazed movie character.
No Buy Month made me crazy because all I could think about was money– spending, not spending. Clearly this is a plan far too extreme for me, so I’m going to try to be more successful in the month of March– financially speaking.
- I am going to stick to my budget and live within my means.
- With my heating bills (hopefully) going down, I’m going to start putting money into savings again
- I’m going to do a thorough inventory of my closet and start making a list of what clothing items I need rather than just buying willy-nilly.
I’m not going to use the word willy-nilly anymore.

Andria!
You were my inspiration. I suffered through the month with limited social interaction. I chided myself for $2.50 on ice cream and $7.58 on a burrito. I still wore my too-big clothes and let my unemployed boyfriend buy coffee (once).
Even if you couldn’t maintain, know you at least sold it well. Or am I a sucker?

Sassy Redhead
I love that you confessed. I hope that my reaction seemed like a form of forgiveness. Hail Mary (she was poor, btw).

Not to make you feel worse, but I can’t help but point out that this was the shortest month of the year, too! 😛
I like the general idea of just “living within your means”. Unfortunatley, for most of us who aren’t living in Timbuktu, this most likely means Capn Crunch for dinner (and not the REAL kind either; the stuff in the bags…you know what I mean!)
The flip side is that, once out of grad school, the money situation gets much much better.

I failed miserably as well. Also, like the person before me….was I inspired or a sucker? I lean towards inspired.
